Siemens to place new SPECT/CT scanner in U.K.

Siemens Healthineers has received an order from Imperial College Healthcare National Health Service (NHS) Trust for two Intevo Bold SPECT/CT scanners, which will be installed at Hammersmith Hospital in London.

The company said that patients at Imperial College Healthcare NHS trust will be the first in the world to benefit from the new scanners. First introduced in June at the annual meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), the hybrid system is designed for a range of clinical applications in a dual-use setting much like PET/CT, according to the vendor. It includes features such as the company's sinogram-affirmed iterative reconstruction (SAFIRE) algorithm and iterative metal artifact reduction (iMAR) algorithm.
