MILabs launches micron-resolution SPECT at EANM

Preclinical imaging developer MILabs has launched a new micron-resolution SPECT unit for tissue samples at the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Exirad-3D is dedicated for imaging ex vivo tissue samples. It enables highly detailed quantitative and automated 3D scanning of radiolabeled molecules in biological tissue samples such as complete organs of small animals, and it can be readily combined with CT, the firm said.

Exirad-3D reduces the time required to obtain 3D autoradiography images by one to two orders of magnitude, and quantitative accuracy is greatly enhanced: No problems resulting from distorted or torn slices, the 3D images are isotropic, the radioactive distribution images are further enhanced by coregistered CT images, and the procedure enables researchers to analyze images presented in their native resolution. Exirad-3D also expands application versatility, making it possible to analyze the distribution of multiple tracers simultaneously.

The Exirad-3D option is available for the MILabs U-SPECT4CT and VECTor4CT systems.
