Siemens rolls out new SPECT system

Siemens Healthcare has introduced a new SPECT system at the 27th Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM).

Symbia Evo Excel combines high image resolution and detector sensitivity with the smallest room size requirement in its class for general nuclear medicine imaging, according to Siemens. It can be sited in 29% less space than conventional systems in its class and could fit in a room as small as 3.60 m x 4.57 m.

The system's bore size is also 30% larger (102 cm), compared with its predecessor, and the patient bed supports patients up to 227 kg. It also has a minimum access height of 53 cm. The short tunnel length and maximum scan length of up to 200 cm improves patient comfort for claustrophobic and tall patients, the firm added.

The detector heads rotate into numerous positions, including caudal/cephalic tilt, providing imaging configurations for general purpose, cardiology, oncology, and neurology studies, Siemens said.
