The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are approaching fast, and the British Institute of Radiology (BIR) has partnered with AuntMinnieEurope.com to launch a musculoskeletal (MSK) event in London on 27 May to discuss the lessons learned from the 2012 games and other issues in sports imaging.
"On the road to Rio: Hot topics in sports imaging" is a comprehensive one-day program. The final speaker -- Dr. Eugene McNally, a consultant radiologist -- has been confirmed.
Attendees will hear about the latest developments in sports and musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging using a combination of didactic lectures and interactive case-based teaching. Discussion will be encouraged to allow delegates to engage with the faculty and gain as much clinical benefit from the day as possible, the organizers said.
The study day would be a useful refresher course for practicing radiologists with an MSK interest who may encounter these examinations as part of their practice. The event would also be valuable to general radiologists and senior radiology trainees developing an interest in MSK radiology, they added.
In other news, the Olympic torch will be lit in the Greek city of Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, on 21 April before being handed over to Rio 2016 organizers on 27 April. On 3 May, the Olympic Torch Relay will officially start in the capital city of Brazil, Brasilia, embarking on a 95-day tour around the country.
