Siemens museum opens in Erlangen

The Siemens Museum for Medical Technology in Erlangen, Germany, celebrated its grand opening on Friday.

Housed in an historic building built as a machine shop in 1893, the museum offers a multimedia journey of medical imaging and medical labs through the history of both Siemens Healthcare and medical technology itself from the mid-1800s through the present day, Siemens said in a statement.

Exhibits include the company's first x-ray machine, CT scanner, and MRI system, each of which provides background information and explanations of how the technologies work. The museum also highlights the firms that were the predecessors of Siemens Healthcare, the company added.
