U.K. regulator issues alert for contrast devices

April 5, 2012 -- The U.K.'s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued a medical device alert regarding Covidien disposable syringes and tubing used with contrast media injectors during imaging procedures.

MHRA posted the alert because the packaging of the devices may not be sealed, thus compromising their sterility. The agency requests that users check the lot number of the equipment against Covidien's Field Safety Noticeand return affected devices to Covidien.
