By AuntMinnieEurope.com staff writers

December 14, 2012 -- Rigshospitalet has become the first hospital in Denmark and the second hospital in Europe to install Toshiba Medical Systems' Aquilion Vision 640-slice CT scanner.

Rigshospitalet has purchased two of the CT scanners, which Toshiba launched at the RSNA 2012 meeting. One scanner will be for cardiovascular research, while the other system is designed for clinical studies, development, and research within organ perfusion, such as tumor radiology.

The new CT scanner in the department of radiology is expected to help reduce radiation dose for both adult and pediatric patients.

Denmark is the fourth country where the Aquilion One Vision is installed.
