GE unveils new Vivid scanner at ESC 2016

GE Healthcare is introducing a new high-end compact cardiovascular ultrasound system at this week's European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress in Rome.

Vivid iq weighs 4.5 kg and is 10% thinner and lighter than its predecessor, Vivid q. It's suitable for a wide range of environments, including the cath lab, the operating room, the emergency room, or remote locations, according to the vendor.

Vivid iq can provide 4D transesophageal echocardiography and also features a rugged, cleanable design for use in difficult conditions, GE said. It offers one-hour battery life and includes a new transportable cart.
