Toshiba secures U.K. cath lab contract

Toshiba Medical Systems has secured a contract to install a new cardiac catheterization lab at the largest specialist heart and lung center in the U.K., the company said.

Harefield Hospital is part of the Royal Brompton and Harefield National Health Service (NHS) Foundation Trust. It will install Toshiba's Infinix-i lab, which allows cardiologists to operate without having to move the patient on the treatment table, making procedures quicker, safer, and more efficient, according to the firm.

Infinix-i comprises a single-plane, floor-mounted system with a 20 cm x 20 cm flat-panel detector as well as Toshiba's spot fluoro and its dose management tool, Dose Tracking System (DTS). It also includes a C-arm that allows for full lateral movement, as well as the company's sequential navigation tool, which can duplicate preferred angles, projections, and acquisition parameters, Toshiba said.
