Philips opens manufacturing plant in India

June 19, 2012 -- Royal Philips Electronics, the parent company of Philips Healthcare, has opened its first facility in India to manufacture diagnostic imaging equipment.

Located in Chakan, 200 km (124 miles) east of Mumbai, the manufacturing facility will initially manufacture lower-cost diagnostic x-ray systems and the Allura FC cardiac catheterization lab. These energy-efficient modalities are designed to support high patient volumes and be easy to service.

This equipment initially will be sold to healthcare providers in India and then to a global market.
