Biotronik claims European 1st for pacemaker

Biomedical device company Biotronik said its MRI-compatible E3-Series pacemaker has been implanted for the first time in Europe.

A woman with a history of heart failure and complete heart block received Biotronik's Enitra 8 HF-T QP device at Great Western Hospital in Swindon, U.K. The E-Series pacemakers features the company's MRI AutoDetect sensor, which detects when the device is in an MRI environment and automatically switches it to the ProMRI mode, Biotronik said.
