Siemens completes CT installation in northern England By AuntMinnieEurope.com staff writers
August 6, 2012 -- Siemens Healthcare has delivered a Somatom Definition AS+ CT system with syngo.via, an advanced visualization software platform, to Wansbeck General Hospital in Ashington, Northumberland, U.K.
The new CT system provides whole-body coverage at high spatial resolution that accommodates both bariatric and pediatric patients. It features Siemens' fully assisted scanner technologies and combined applications to reduce exposure (FAST CARE) to accelerate low dose. It has sinogram affirmed iterative reconstruction (SAFIRE) technology and capabilities for 3D-guided interventional CT and whole-organ coverage.
The syngo.via imaging software and platform have been integrated with Wansbeck's existing IT infrastructure, which eliminates the need for additional workstations. Images may be accessed from any location.
Wansbeck General Hospital is one of the hospitals of the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, which provides healthcare services to approximately 500,000 residents living from the North Tyneside to the Scottish border.
