Philips supports fetal growth standards on ob/gyn

Philips Healthcare announced at this week's annual International Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) meeting in Barcelona, Spain, that it has committed to include new international standards for fetal growth on every ob/gyn ultrasound machine in its portfolio.

The fetal growth standards are based on serial ultrasound measurements and were established by the Intergrowth-21st Project, which was led by Oxford University researchers in collaboration with a consortium of more than 300 researchers and clinicians worldwide, Philips said.

Published earlier this month in the Lancet, the study included a large cohort of healthy, well-nourished pregnant women from eight geographically diverse populations who were at low risk of adverse material and perinatal outcomes. Philips said it contributed ultrasound systems and technical support to the project.

In other ISUOG developments, Philips said it's also showcasing its entire women's healthcare imaging portfolio in its ISUOG booth, including recent introductions such as its Affiniti ultrasound scanner for ob/gyn applications, Epiq ultrasound platform, ClearVue 650 scanner, and Visiq compact ultrasound system.
