IPEM gets ready for 2014 physics conference

The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) is making final preparations for its upcoming Medical Physics and Engineering Conference (MPEC2014).

The conference will be held at the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow, Scotland, from 31 August to 2 September.

MPEC2014's theme is "Engineering outstanding medical devices and techniques," and will include data research in medical imaging and diagnostics; medical device safety, radiotherapy cancer treatment; and new applications in rehabilitation and movement.

Keynote speakers are:

  • Paul Matthews from the division of brain sciences at Imperial College London, who will talk about the latest advances in MRI and PET imaging.
  • David Keating, department of clinical physics and bioengineering at National Health Service (NHS) Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Scotland, who will discuss medical physics and innovation.
