German insurer adds echotherapy reimbursement

Add one more German company to the list of insurers that will reimburse for echotherapy procedures.

Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse Bremen/Bremerhaven becomes the sixth health insurance company to pay for the nonsurgical treatment of both thyroid nodules and breast fibroadenomas, according to French ultrasound therapy developer Theraclion.

Echotherapy treatment currently is performed at the Center for Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT in Bremen, which provides the service with its partner, St. Joseph-Stift Hospital.

Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse Bremen/Bremerhaven insures approximately 237,000 members in Bremen through 13,000 employers and 4,000 healthcare partners.
