Toshiba initiates direct operations in Northern Ireland

Toshiba Medical Systems has acquired long-time partner and imaging equipment distributor Medical Imaging NI of Belfast and commenced direct operations in Northern Ireland.

Toshiba said it will retain all staff from Medical Imaging NI, which has been a Toshiba partner for 25 years. The new direct operation will be led by Paul Parsons, director of service for Toshiba Medical Systems U.K.

For Toshiba, the acquisition will enable the development of imaging equipment and service offerings for its CT, MRI, x-ray, and ultrasound customers in the region, according to the company. New and existing customers in Northern Ireland will have access to seven-day technical support, immediate access with enhanced spare parts delivery, and access to Toshiba's growing fleet of relocatable MRI and CT scanners, Toshiba said.

The company will also provide customers with access to engineer training and remote diagnostics, as well as Toshiba's shared-risk, multiyear contracts. As part of the launch of direct operations, Toshiba said it has relocated buildings from the Mallusk Enterprise Park to Mossley Hill in Newton Abbey.
