Readers of the BMJ have chosen "The scandal of poor medical research" as the paper the journal should be most proud of publishing.
The survey, taken this month, was conducted as part of the BMJ's 20th online anniversary celebration and attracted 576 votes across 55 countries.
"The scandal of poor medical research" was cited by 252 respondents (44%) as the top published study.
A 2004 study titled "Evidence based guidelines or collectively constructed mindlines?" was the second choice (15%) among readers, followed by "Establishing a standard definition for child overweight and obesity worldwide: international survey" (12%).
