Proton therapy developer Ion Beam Applications (IBA) signed a contract with CYCLHAD (a cyclotron for hadron therapy) for the installation of its single-room proton therapy system ProteusOne in Caen, France.
The contract includes ProteusOne equipment delivery and a 15-year maintenance agreement, which together will have a value of between 43 million euros and 48 million euros to IBA. The delivery of the equipment is expected to take place in 2017, the firm said.
This is the seventh installation of a ProteusOne.
In a second phase of development, IBA will collaborate with several French industrial partners and semipublic institutions to develop the potential of carbon beam therapy. IBA will provide support and expertise for the development of a prototype carbon therapy system based on an advanced 400-megaelectron-volts superconducting isochronous cyclotron able to accelerate carbon ions used in hadron therapy.
