DRK: Endovascular stent viable option for aneurysm

Image-guided endovascular stent therapy is a viable option for treating abdominal aneurysm and is an alternative to open abdominal surgery, according to research at the German Radiology Congress (DRK).

Image-guided endovascular stent therapy does not require general anesthesia and patients recover more quickly than they do when they have surgery, according to presenter Dr. Johannes Lammer of the Medical University of Vienna.

Three randomized, controlled trials are investigating image-guided treatment of patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm, Lammer said.
