University spin-off Quantum Imaging secures investment

University of Leeds spin-off Quantum Imaging has received a 1.6 million pound (1.9 million euros) investment to develop its medical imaging technology.

The investment, which was led by IP Group with coinvestment from the University of Leeds and IP Venture Fund II, will be used by the company to develop a portable medical magnetometry device for use in a clinical setting. It will also enable further studies to better understand the full diagnostic capabilities of the device, Quantum Imaging said.

The financing has been committed in two equal tranches. Quantum Imaging was supported by initial funding from a National Health Service (NHS) funding stream formerly known as the National Innovation Centre (NIC), and the Medical Technologies Innovation and Knowledge Centre, which is based at the University of Leeds.
