Radiotherapy patient positioning technology developer Qfix said it has completed the first installation of its SDX automatic gating module with Varian Medical Systems' Clinac iX linear accelerator in Avignon, France.

With the module and Varian's motion management interface, SDX now integrates respiratory gating with radiotherapy treatment with Varian's Clinac and Trilogy platforms, Qfix said. The company expects that future developments will include expanding the automatic respiratory gating system to a variety of primary radiotherapy treatment systems.

The module is pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance.
