Elekta finalizes large linear accelerator sale in U.K.

Radiation oncology firm Elekta has won a contract to provide 10 linear accelerator systems to U.K. National Health Service (NHS)-affiliated hospitals over the next 18 months.

The purchase of Synergy radiation therapy treatment systems by the NHS Supply Chain is part of an initiative to replace aging linear accelerators in the U.K.

The company said they received the order during the fourth quarter of its fiscal 2011/2012 year.
