Israeli radiologist Dr. Moshe Graif dies

European Society of Radiology (ESR) honorary member and former chair of the Israel Radiological Association Dr. Moshe Graif died on 31 March, the ESR has reported.

"It is with great sadness that we inform you of the loss of our colleague and friend," the ESR wrote on 1 April.

Graif was chairman of the Israel Radiological Association between 1999 and 2011. He was a member of the Israeli Ministry of Health's National Council of Medical Imaging, and was co-founder and co-president of the French-Israeli Association of Medical Imaging as well as co-founder and co-president of the East Mediterranean Congress of Magnetic Resonance.

Graif was awarded honorary membership in the ESR in recognition of his major contribution to the development of radiology, particularly in the areas of imaging technology and musculoskeletal imaging, as well as his devotion to restructuring the radiological standards of practice, the ESR wrote in 2012. In 2013, Graif was named an honorary fellow of the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Graif was responsible for 112 publications and 2,200 citations in the medical literature, and was musculoskeletal area editor for the Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, also serving on the editorial boards of the Journal of Ultrasound and the Journal of Radiology Case Reports. Graif also served as a reviewer for the European Journal of Radiology, the Israel Journal of Medical Sciences, Harefuah, the Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, and the Israel Medical Association Journal.
